Giampaolo Atzeni

Born in Cagliari and trained in architecture in Florence, Giampaolo Atzeni began his career in theatre, touring across Europe with the company Domus de Janas before working as a photographer in Africa, India, and the Middle East. In the early 1990s he turned to painting, developing his signature metaphysical pop style: precise lines, flat colours, and dreamlike, ironic figures drawn from personal experience.
After living in several Italian and European cities, he opened his studio in Rome in 2007. He has exhibited widely in institutional and gallery settings, with works held in public and private collections in Italy and abroad. Atzeni has also collaborated with design and fashion companies such as BREM and Gobbo Salotti. Since 2020, he has divided his time between Rome and his studio in Tenerife.
