FABIO BISONNI

Fabio Bisonni was born in Rome in 1968. He trained at the “Silvio D’Amico” State Institute of Art, where he studied under Achille Pace. He lives and works in Passo Corese, near the Abbey of Farfa.
His pictorial research developed within the context of Metropolism, a movement theorised by Achille Bonito Oliva in the late 1980s, attentive to the social and symbolic transformations of contemporary life.
Bisonni’s early works are marked by an introspective and suspended tone. The absence of the human figure intensifies a sense of emotional distance and the loss of shared points of reference. The images function as still frames: scenes that pass before the eye without demanding involvement, offering a reflection on everyday indifference.
In his more recent production, Bisonni focuses on the urban landscape. Architecture, stations, gasometers, public transport, traffic lights and flows of traffic become visual devices through which he examines the speed of metropolitan life and the gradual dissolution of individual identity. Painting, sustained by a strong photographic framing and dense materiality, transforms the ordinary into a space for critical observation.
