BLANTART

Massimo Blantart

Is an Italian artist whose research began in the 1980s and 1990s, steeped in hip-hop culture; graffiti, music, and movement immediately became his defining expressive languages. This dynamic, urban imagery indelibly marks his artistic vision, oriented toward experimentation and the continuous transformation of materials. His encounter with airbrushing happened by chance, but it proved decisive. After an initial basic course in Rome's Monti neighborhood, Blantart developed his own independent research, driven by a precise intuition: to transcend the static nature of traditional painting to apply art to mobile surfaces. Cars, motorcycles, and helmets thus became his first "dynamic canvases," paving the way for a career built on technical experimentation and originality. After years of research, he created his first custom helmet, marking the beginning of a professional journey characterized by a radical approach: each work is unique, never replicated, the fruit of a creative process that rejects copying and enhances the object's identity. This philosophy has led him to emerge in the international custom culture scene, with publications in industry magazines such as Low Rider and Kustombike, and awards at major events: among these, first prize at the Motor Bike Expo in Verona (Café Racer category), Top Three at the Eternal City in Rome (at La Nuvola), and one of his creations having been selected among the six most beautiful Royal Enfields in the world at the Wheels and Waves festival in Biarritz. At the same time, Blantart develops collaborations with industry professionals and participates in the production of television content, including six episodes of a program broadcast on the Discovery Channel, consolidating his presence in the media as well. His artistic evolution gradually leads him towards the contemporary art system, establishing contacts with Roman galleries and obtaining positive feedback in terms of exhibitions and sales, with works also acquired by international collectors. In recent years, his artistic inquiry has expanded further with the creation of the SPRAYART COLLECTION: spray cans transformed into narrative micro scenes miniature worlds inspired by themes such as fashion, artists, locations, and iconic figures. Each series is produced in a limited edition (maximum of 10 pieces), maintaining a strong connection to customization culture and the concept of uniqueness. These works transcend the traditional notion of an object, becoming hybrid elements that blend sculpture with visual storytelling. Displayed in cases, on canvases, or under glass domes, the spray cans take on an almost museum-like quality untouchable yet symbolically "mobile," engaged in a constant dialogue between urban memory and contemporary languages. Blantart’s practice thus sits at the intersection of street art and pop art, yet eludes rigid definitions. His work is driven by a constant striving for the new the unseen through a creative process that translates experiences, visions, and influences into works with a powerful sense of identity. It is a coherent yet evolving body of work, defined by expressive freedom and transformation.
